Privacy Policy

The short version

SnagCam does not require an internet connection or an account. The photos, video, location data and notes you capture with SnagCam are stored only on your iPhone. The app does not send this data to MT AI Systems LTD, and it does not send it to any third party. There are no analytics, advertising or tracking tools built into SnagCam.

What SnagCam records

When you use SnagCam to capture a photo or video, the app can record, alongside the image itself:

• the local date, time and time zone of capture;
• the name you have entered as the user of the app;
• project, building, floor, room or surface labels you assign;
• a sequential capture number and any history of changes to that number;
• GPS coordinates and a reported accuracy figure, or a manually confirmed location where GPS is unavailable or unreliable indoors;
• any markup, labels, measurements, blurred areas or a signature you add to a copy of the photo;
• a SHA-256 integrity code generated on your device for the original file.

All of this is created and stored locally, in the app's storage area on your iPhone.

Where your data lives

SnagCam stores everything it records on your device. Nothing is uploaded to a server operated by MT AI Systems LTD or by any other party as part of using the app. Because your data never leaves your device through SnagCam, MT AI Systems LTD does not process, store or have access to it, and does not act as a data controller or data processor for it under the UK GDPR.

If you choose to save a copy of a photo or video to your iPhone's Photos app, or to share a report, ZIP file or individual image using AirDrop, email, a messaging app or another app, that copy is then handled by that destination app or service under its own terms — from that point on, the data is outside SnagCam and under your control.

If your iPhone is backed up to iCloud or to a computer using Finder, that backup may include SnagCam's app data along with the rest of your device. This is part of Apple's backup service and is not something SnagCam sends or controls.

People in your photos

Site photos can show other people — for example workers, residents or passers-by — or details such as name badges and vehicle number plates. When you capture and share these photos, you (or your employer) decide how they are used, and data protection law may apply to you. SnagCam includes a blur tool so you can hide faces, badges and number plates on the copy you share. When you export a ZIP package, the unblurred originals of blurred photos are left out unless you choose to include them.

Location use

SnagCam uses your iPhone's location services only while the app is open and only to timestamp the photo or video you are capturing at that moment. Location is not collected in the background, and SnagCam does not build a location history beyond the record attached to each capture. If GPS accuracy is low, the app tells you so on the capture; where GPS is not available at all (for example, deep indoors), you can confirm the location manually instead.

Deleting the app or your data

Because everything is stored on your device, deleting SnagCam from your iPhone deletes the photos, video, notes and location data held inside the app along with it. We recommend exporting a PDF report or a ZIP of anything you need to keep before removing the app or before setting up a new phone.

Contacting us by email

If you email support@mtaisystems.com, MT AI Systems LTD is the controller of the personal data in your message (your email address, name and anything you write or attach). We use it only to answer your question or resolve your issue. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing support for our app (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). We do not add your email address to a marketing list from a support enquiry and we do not share your message with anyone else. Our email is hosted by our email provider, who stores it on our behalf. We keep support emails for as long as we need them to deal with your request and to keep our business records, and no longer than six years.

This website

This website does not use cookies, analytics or tracking. Like most web servers, it keeps a short technical log of requests (IP address, time and page requested) for security and troubleshooting. This log is overwritten automatically and is not used to identify visitors.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to our use of it, and to receive it in a portable format. To use any of these rights, email support@mtaisystems.com. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

Children

SnagCam is a professional tool intended for tradespeople, inspectors and site staff, and is not directed at children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where the change is significant, note it in the app's release notes.
