Frequently asked questions

Where is my data stored?

Everything you capture with SnagCam — photos, video, location, notes and markup — is stored only on your iPhone. SnagCam does not require an internet connection or an account, and it does not upload your data to us or to anyone else.

I'm changing phones. How do I keep my photos?

Before you set up a new iPhone, export a PDF report or a ZIP of the projects you need to keep, and save the export somewhere outside SnagCam — for example, the Files app, iCloud Drive, or by sending it to yourself. An iCloud or Finder backup of your old phone may also carry SnagCam's data across as part of a full device restore, but a manual export is the more reliable way to make sure you have what you need.

Why does a photo show "Low accuracy" for GPS?

SnagCam reports the accuracy figure your iPhone's location services actually return at the moment of capture. Indoors, near tall buildings, or in poor signal conditions, GPS accuracy can be much lower than outdoors in the open. When accuracy is low, SnagCam flags it on the capture rather than showing a falsely precise number. Where GPS isn't available at all, you can confirm the location manually instead.

How do I change a photo or video's number?

Open the photo or video and tap its number at the top of the screen. SnagCam keeps a history of any number changes, so the original numbering is never silently lost.

If I mark up a photo, is the original changed?

No. SnagCam never modifies the original photo. Any arrows, labels, blur or signature you add are saved to a separate annotated copy, and SnagCam generates a SHA-256 integrity code for the original file on your device.

What happens if I delete the app?

Because SnagCam's data lives only on your device, deleting the app removes the photos, video and notes stored inside it. Export anything you need — as a PDF report or a ZIP file — before you delete SnagCam or reset your phone.

I deleted a photo by mistake. Can I get it back?

Yes. Deleted photos and videos first go to Recently deleted in the same project. Open the project, tap the ••• menu and choose Recently deleted, then tap restore. Only items you delete permanently from there are removed for good. Their numbers stay reserved, so numbering never repeats.

How do I change the language?

Go to Settings › Language. SnagCam is available in English, Türkçe, Deutsch and Русский, or can follow your phone's language. The chosen language is used in the app, on the information band of new photos and in new PDF reports.

Can my team share one project?

Not in this version. SnagCam works on one iPhone without an account or cloud, so each phone keeps its own projects and its own numbering. To pass work on, share a PDF report or a ZIP package. SnagCam does not assign defects to people or track them to completion; it records the evidence you capture.

Someone else is in my photo. What should I do?

Use the Blur tool in Mark up to hide faces, name badges or number plates on the copy you share. The original stays unchanged on your iPhone. When you export a ZIP, the unblurred originals of blurred photos are left out unless you choose to include them.
